A very special night of recognition for Food Pantry director Ellen Young. Awarded the “Spirit of Service Award” from the Pinellas Opportunity Council, Inc. for her dedication and commitment to feeding families and children at the Mattie Williams Center. Families facing food insecurity is continually on the rise and Ellen ensures more than 200 people every week receive nutritious food options. Doesn’t matter if it’s 90 degrees or raining, she leads a group of dedicated volunteers delivering food car side every Thursday. Congratulations Ellen, we are so proud of you.
Eric Williams, BOD Treasurer and son of Mattie Williams joined Ellen at the podium as Pinellas Opportunity Council, Inc. executive director Pattye Sawyer presented the award. Others honored that night were STAR Young Professionals Network & St. Petersburg Assoc. of Firefighters with the “Partner in Impact Award,” and Bellinthia Berry dean of Florida's Statewide Workforce Development Program with the “Pathways to Prosperity Award.”

Started our week out with donations from the GFWC North Pinellas Woman's Club. Happy Birthday bags packed with all the ingredients to bake a birthday cake (no eggs or oil required) and feminine hygiene products that are so desperately needed. Thank you ladies for this generous donation. They will surely make the families we help smile.
