We are very sorry to learn of the loss of Mr. McCabe. His support of local children will always be remembered and appreciated.It is with unspeakable sadness that #JWBPinellas mourns the loss of Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney Bernie McCabe. Mr. McCabe joined the #JWBBoard in 2000, after a legislative change to JWB’s Special Act added both the State Attorney and Public Defender as ex-officio members, and he was a long-standing Chair of the JWB Finance Committee. An absolute legend in the legal community, Mr. McCabe was equally passionate about ensuring children had equitable opportunity to lead healthy and purposeful lives. His litmus test was always, “Is it good for the kids?”, and he challenged others to look through the same lens. Our hearts go out to his wife and family. May all who mourn this great loss find comfort in knowing that #PinellasCounty has been strengthened as a result of Bernie McCabe’s remarkable service!
